Detective Inspector Tom Brand has moved from London to his childhood home in the sleepy village of Relby to look after his elderly father and take a job as lead detective in the village’s new police station.
Before he has a chance to settle into his new life, tragedy strikes. Two 12-year-old boys pretending to be detectives in a mysterious game disappear. Tom is thrown into the most important case of his career. Families are torn apart by the disappearance of the boys, and the only clues are frustratingly indecipherable.
